Southfield youth football team bus crashes with tanker on I-75

A semi truck and a bus carrying a youth football team crashed Friday morning on southbound Interstate 75 near South Huron River Drive.

According to the Monroe Evening News, children were on board the bus when the incident occurred at about 4:30 a.m. near Newport in Monroe County.

A number of youngsters were injured but most were believed to be scrapes, bruises and abrasions. The driver of the truck was pinned inside the cab and was later transported to a local hospital.
